-Just curious how much everyone talks to their significant other each day when they're in a long distance thing?

-How far away do you live from each other? Is there an end to the distance in sight?

-How often do you get to see him/her?

My boyfriend and I speak several times a day, usually totaling anywhere between 2-5 hours. We also text and chat online and e-mail... so it's quite a bit. I'm needy.

I live in Michigan and he lives in California. Sooo...i think it's about 2500 miles.

We see each other once every few months. I've seen him three times this year and hopefully will again at Christmas.

It really depends on how busy we both are and how much we feel like talking that day. There's some days where we can't get enough of each other and other days when all the talking absolutely bores us to death. On average I'd say about 2-3 hours per day.

She lives in Central American and I live in California.  The plan right now is that we're hoping she'll be able to work here in the US after she graduates. We're not sure how tough it will be, and unfortunately since same-sex marriage is not recognized I couldn't sponsor her to come here if we got married. :(

We used to see each other twice a year, but we're trying to increase the frequency since our breakup.

oh wow, Central America. I thought I had it bad! At least my boy lives in the US (though, he's not a citizen. he's from the Philippines). Yeah, the same-sex issue is a good question. But, you live in CA and the same-sex marriage laws are changing so maybe it won't be TOO hard. I hope for the best for you!

Twice a year...how difficult. Though, what am I saying.. I've only seen John three times in almost 9 months. It's so hard. 99.9% of the time it's worth it but every now and then I think, "why bother?" But I've never clicked with anyone like I do with him.

How long have you been together? How'd you meet?

John and I met online...on eNA actually about 2 years ago.

Wow. I had a bad experience with an online relationship so I thought that they didn't work out. But 2 years is a long time. I'm glad it worked out for you. :)

It's true that it's legal to get married in CA now but it isn't recognized by the government for immigration purposes. *sigh
I totally understand about the 'why bother?' feeling. Once in awhile you just forget about the whole reason you're doing it, you know?

We met when I went on a study abroad program in Costa Rica in September 06.  We'll have been together for 2 years in October. :) When we first got together we never though we'd be together this long. It was mostly just a fling for the both of us.

Is it hard being with a filipino guy? I'm half filipina but honestly I could never see myself with a filipino. heheheh
Many of them are too needy for my tastes.

Yeah, this is the first luck I've ever had with an online thing... I was VERY skeptical and I went into it on a platonic level only... but we just had/have this amazing chemistry.

Hmm, interesting about the marriage laws in CA. I guess they don't do the same-sex marriage immigration thing because they might have too many friends marrying each other for citizen-ship? I don't know. Hopefully they'll change it soon!

Wow, I would LOVE to study abroad in Costa Rica. I've heard it's amazing there. What a great place to meet someone! (well, aside from the whole other country thing... but Costa Ricans (is that the proper term) are very nice looking people!!

Actually, it's not hard at all. I'm INCREDIBLY needy...moreso than him so it works out pretty well. The only problems are with his parents. He's pretty moody too (which apparently Filipinos are???)

It's not just about California. Unfortunately, immigration doesn't go by state laws. It's on the federal level.
Costa Rica is a great country to visit, but after you've been there more than a couple times you start noticing all the things you hate about it. hahhahha
hmmm... what do you mean by moody? I know they are extremely sensitive, if that's what you mean.

Wow, that's a shame then! Hopefully you two will figure something out! Any ideas on what she can do?

He just gets really cranky really easily... not so much sensitive... and when we argue, he refuses to talk about it. He has trouble talking about feelings. It's sooo frustrating.
